RecycleMe!
“let's get the recycling knowledge out there and produce less waste!” - Erika
Recyclers are generally committed to the cause, but struggle with confusion around exactly what the options and restrictions are in their area. In this UX student concept project, I was tasked with developing a solution to this problem with the design of a simple mobile app.
OVERVIEW
Project Duration: 2 weeks, May 2022
Responsibilities: UX/UI Design, Research
Tools: Surveys, Interviews, Sketches, Figma
PROCESS
Discover: Surveys, Interviews
Define: Affinity Map, Persona and Problem Definition, How Might We
Develop: Solutions, User Flow, Sketches, Wireframe, Testing
Deliver: Low-fi Prototype, Insights
What Makes Recyclers Tick?
I conducted surveys and interviews with home recyclers and discovered that they are more than willing to do the work, but really could use a better understanding of their options.
Tell Me More?
Interviews revealed busy people who believe in recycling, want convenience, and could understand more.
Big Themes Emerge
As I distilled feedback from our recyclers, a clearer picture of their experience was created.
Defining our User
I created The Faithful Recycler persona to capture the needs, desires and story of our larger group of recyclers, to keep in mind as I began ideation and design.
First We'll Need a Map
I sketched out how a user would use the app with simple steps
And a Prototype
A very simple sketched prototype with some basic functionality worked to get some initial feedback from.
Initial Testing
I recruited a few users to help me figure out what was working and what was not. I had some work to do on a couple word and layout choices.
